Young Dems President Steven Patzer Announces Run for Council District 47
Young Dems President and community advocate, Steven D. Patzer, announced his run for NY City Council District 47, 19 months before the 2021 election primary.
His focus over the next year is 47 events he will organize that will include but aren’t limited to job fairs, career-orientated toy drives, cleanups, and a holiday singing tour of Sinatra songs at senior centers. “Much of my inspiration comes from Councilman Mark Treyger’s local community work,” says Patzer. “I was so touched when he was able to get a local school a washer and dryer, so children who were going to school with dirty clothes could clean them and fit in with the other kids.”
Treyger’s constantly doing community events at the same time as getting funding for projects. Treyger’s office is sponsoring a drive in movie by the New York Aquarium at 6 pm on November 9th with hot chocolate.
In the past few months, Patzer and community volunteers have cleaned up over 50 hypodermic needles from Coney Island Creek park and hauled away over 100 bags of trash, got signs and trash cans put out at the creek by the parks department, and helped 4 people get jobs through a job fair organized at Liberation H.S. Over two dozen others put in applications at the job fair and are awaiting results.

The main difference he says between his work now and when elected, is he will be able to help allocate funds to local organizations and introduce/pass legislation.
