Max Rose Votes Against HEROES-2 Relief Act

Congressman Max Rose issued the following statement following his vote against the partisan COVID-19 relief bill, Heroes 2.0:

“I was proud to stand with a bipartisan group of Members who put forth a proposal that helped kick-start negotiations for COVID-19 relief. Instead of both sides making necessary concessions and getting Americans the relief they desperately need, we’re back to passing partisan bills that are dead on arrival and a blame game from all parties. It’s everything the American people hate about our politics. New Yorkers can’t wait until after the election—our first responders, public servants on the job, our small businesses and families around the country need relief now. Voting on this bill means both sides have given up—and I will never vote to do that. It’s time to put our country first.” 

Rose has consistently been pressing for substantive COVID-19 relief to help struggling workers, families, and businesses in addition to aid for state and local governments to ensure first responders and public servants aren’t fired and schools can safely reopen.

Earlier this month, Rose joined Members of Congress from the Problem Solvers Caucus to unveil a bipartisan framework to help break the gridlock on the latest COVID-19 relief package and encourage negotiators to get back to the table. Additionally, citing threats of hundreds of New York City’s first responders being fired due to COVID-19 budget shortfalls, Rose joined a bipartisan group of lawmakers in calling on Congressional leadership to return to the negotiating table in order to address the desperate need for additional COVID-19 relief.
