Colton Endorses David Weprin for City Comptroller

Assemblyman William Colton (D – Gravesend, Bensonhurst, Bath Beach, and Dyker Heights) District Leader Charles Ragusa announces their endorsement for Assemblymember David Weprin for New York City Comptroller.

Assemblymember Weprin represents part of Queens and serves as the Chair of the Correction Committee in the Assembly and a member of the Ways and Means Committee. Previously he served in the City Council as Chair of the Council Finance Committee. Mr. Weprin’s prior experience includes Deputy Superintendent of Banks and Secretary of the Baking Board and the New York District Chairman of the Securities Industry Association.

Colton praises David Weprin for his position supporting the SHSAT and the expansion of the gifted program in all parts of the city. He also has been a strong supporter of neighborhood businesses. His experience in financial matters and in auditing of agencies and department including the NYC Department of Education especially qualifies Mr. Weprin as an effective Comptroller.

“As an NYC Comptroller Mr. Weprin would have the responsibility for reviewing city contracts. Mr. Weprin has supported building more affordable housing for families rather than building more temporary homeless shelters as a real solution to the problem of homelessness. This commonsense approach to tackling problems will focus on real solutions rather than a temporary band-aid,” District Leader Ragusa has stressed.

“In these difficult budgetary times, we need a city Comptroller with practical experience in fighting for real services for the needs of neighborhood families and businesses and David Weprin will make an excellent Comptroller,” concluded Colton.
