“I am running for office because I am concerned and fearful about the future of New York, the great city where I have lived for the past twenty-five years. Progressive policies and anti-police sentiment are threatening our entire city and way of life. I want schools to safely re-open, our police to be supported, businesses to be encouraged and prosper. My priority will be helping all the people in my district and I am confident I can be a great representative for them,” Vernikov said.

The Chairperson of Brooklyn Republican and Conservative Parties immediately endorsed her. “Today, we take the first step towards bringing sanity and good governance back to our city as we proudly endorse Inna Vernikov for New York City Council. Inna is a strong, common sense, active community supporter who will represent the entire community with pride, strength and decency,” said Chairman of the Brooklyn Republican Party, Ted Ghora.

“The Kings County Conservative Party is proud to support Inna Vernikov. Her platform of law and order and fiscal responsibility will bring common sense to the City Council,” said Brooklyn Conservative party Chair Fran Vella-Marrone.

Assemblyman Dov Hikind also strongly came out in support. “Inna has been a courageous fighter all of her life. She has been an outspoken advocate against antisemitism and any type of hate.”

Vernikov is no stranger to local politics, having previously assisted the former Republican Senator David Storobin and serving as Special Assistant to Assemblyman Dov Hikind until his retirement from office. Currently she serves as the Women’s Committee Chair for Americans Against Antisemitism, an organization founded by the former Assemblyman to combat the growing threat of antisemitism in the United States. “Everything I know about combatting Antisemitism and hate, I learned from Dov, who has dedicated his life to serving our community. Even after his 36-year tenure at the New York State assembly, Dov continues standing up for what’s right when no one else does and raises his voice when everyone else remains silent. That’s exactly the type of leader I aspire to be,” declared Vernikov.

She says she is set to tackle a number of issues, which she views as vital to her district, which includes Brighton Beach, Manhattan Beach, Sheepshead Bay, parts of Gravesend, Midwood, Luna Park, and Trump Village. She believes in staunchly supporting our law enforcement, a quality education (including the gifted and talented programs), less bureaucracy for small businesses and fighting antisemitism and discrimination.

During the pandemic Vernikov volunteered at a local soup kitchen, donated meals to law enforcement officers at the New York City Police Department’s 61st precinct in Brooklyn, as well as essential workers at Staten Island University Hospital. “I will fight for our city and for my constituents, the way I do as an attorney and activist. The time to save our city is now.”

  1. What are her chances on winning?

[It’s the only Brooklyn City Council district where Republican stands a realistic shot.]

    1. Democrats still hold a 2:1 majority in the district so probably not great. That’s why Saperstein changed his party affiliation.

  2. I just changed parties from Democrat to Republican. I have always been an independent voter for 60 years,
I was a member of Bsy Democrats and Ari Kagan is a friend. I’m bacohim for Treyger’s seat.
I’m interested in you. However I would like your thoughts on certain areas.

  3. The old wisdom idiom said:
“One soldier-is not enough on battlefield!”
Criminal Democratic Majority doing politics for so many years! In Brooklyn. We have Democratic men Alik. Brook Krasniy, stories. So far – no chances to republican candidates to change anything.

  4. Ms. Vernikov is to be congratulated for coming out for the removal of the Principal of MS 136. Where does this principal come off to email staff urging a pro-Palestinian position. This idiot should be made to read Laura Z. Hobson’s GENTLEMAN’S AGREEMENT. She is the educational leader of the school and should not be endorsing any political viewpoint, especially that which endorses a group such as Hamas, the latter calling for the extinction of the Jewish people worldwide. The chancellor just wants the principal to apologize. Sorry, that’s not enough. She must be shown the door immediately.
